What is the Bone Herd Chronicles?
The Bone Herd Chronicles is an original comic book series created by Jared Trautman and Jeremy Megert in 2024. It takes place in the prehistoric era tens of thousands of years ago during a harsh winter period and centers around a ragtag group of people who came together to build a home and became a tribe.

What is the comic book about?
The first issue focuses on one of the young members of the Bone Herd, Yavin, who is going on his first hunt with some of the other men of the tribe. It is the most important day for Yavin as when he completes his first hunt it will mark his passage into being a man by the others in the habitat.
What conflicts and themes are present in the comic?
Over 29 pages in this comic book Yavin and the others in the Bone Herd face conflicts such as man vs man, man vs nature and man vs self. It is also a story of personal discovery, growth, survival, and the brutal nature of humanity.
Are there plans to continue the series?
YES. The story has been outlined in full and it has an end point I hope to reach.
When can you expect issue 2?
The goal is to be in production by late December and to have it finished in Early 2026(January-March). Once everyone is paid and the issue is imminent, there will be a Kickstarter launch to fund the printing production of Issue 2.
What are plans for issue 2 and beyond?
Plans are for the story to pickup right after issue one(no spoilers) but not everyone is okay at the end of the first issue. While the fate on ?????? is yet to be resolved, we will see the immediate fallout in the aftermath of Yavin’s First Hunt. The first arc is going to be a total of 3 issues. The next issue will focus on other members in the Bone Herd who haven’t had their moments to shine, including animals in the world who will have roles to play in the world. First between arc story will highlight an adventure with Gunthry.
There is a large cast of characters yet to be introduced, and our goal is to tell everyone’s story at their own pace while reaching the endgame. There are 3 arcs planned with several one-shot stories planned in between the arcs. There is going to be a time jump of several years after arc 2.
Also, starting in issue 2 each issue will have a 4-6 page backstory on a different aspect of the world of the Bone Herd. This first backstory will focus on the REAL Zolgar who Yavin only imagined in the first issue.
How many pages should be expected per issue?
The first issue was 29 pages plus front cover. The story could have been cut down a page or a page added to give it an even number, but the story ended naturally there. It will vary depending on the issue.
For example I already have issue 4 written which is a Gunthry centric story and it is a standard 20 page story. There will be one back story in the issue as well so it will be a minimum of 24 pages. It could be longer, it depends on the story. Ultimately though I’d expect main arcs to be fuller issues, likely coming close to or above 30 pages. Issue 2 on the other hand which continues the first arc is currently clocking in at 34 pages. It could be 36 or after editing it could be 28. There are no restrictions to adhere to. The goal is to tell the story and get it to its natural conclusion without rushing or overstaying its welcome.

The Patac War.
What was the print run of the first issue?
Approximately 350 between all variants.
-There were 13 Creator’s Edition’s printed. The is the only printing of these that will exist ever. They are not available for purchase.
-There are approximately 40 Virgin and Noir variants, however not all have been put available for sale due to a printing error where a large amount of the printing had scuffing on the back covers.
-There are approximately 250 Standard covers, however about 35-50 have not been put up for sale due to the same printing error where a large amount of the printing had scuffing on the back covers.
The initial print run was 250ish, there was a little overage on copies but there was an additional 100 that were delivered within a week due to the printing error. These are all considered first prints and are Kickstarter editions.
